Dear Sunita and all the law students that responded,

Professor Sunita,

I'm very pleased with your timely reply. : )

and to all whom I have drawn concerns,

thank you for your valuable insight.

With your prompt response

through email and LMS announcement,

You have further assured me,

my choice of studying in Melbourne University

is but the best academic decision ever made in my life.

Because it is in my firmest belief that,

Melb Uni as an utopia of ideas generator

by the brightest minds of this nation,

is ideally

a place which stimulates conversation,

rather than shutting it down by regulation;

a place which acknowledges the voices of many,

rather than bow to the status quo of authority.

A place which encourages the high-achievers not only to DREAM LARGE,

but also to STAND FIRM,

for causes in life which we individually, or collectively, deem important,

from lecture hall of academia

down to the Parliament hall of reality.

And in this incident,

Melbourn University has proven itself

through the highest level of professionalism shown from its staff,

Professor Sunita,

to be worthy of each and every expectation I mentioned above.

And to the massive students' responses which went personal,

I would like to express my sincere disappointment

if my email

in the rarest likehoood

were to contain the nature of mislead,

while it was intended to be intellectual.

And in particular to Keryl Melissa Li Wan Po,

With all due respect,

May I enlighten you that

Australia, as a democratic system,

works different from what you have deemed to be "majoritism".

The beauty of democracy,

is that it also protects minority interest,

rather than comtemplating excuse of " for the greater good" by majority.

The abolishment of capital punishment in United States

may give you a good insight into this topic.

And for this democracy which was embraced by the Australian Government,

and upholded in one of the best university in the world,

You, even as a minority,

down to the head-count of 1,

shall not fear,

nor threatened,

in the name of Equity.

to express your opinion,

rather to hide behind the great veal of association

as you said "student body"

to advocate for your cause.

And finally,

with all sort of guesses in LMS, Uni Portal,Facebook, and Xiao Nei

(sort of chinese version of facebook),

I assure you all that,

I'm not a stubborn or troubled student

with "overkill" nasionalism from Hong Kong or China.

I'm a but a Malaysian,

which just doesn't feel right

about "some given facts" in question,

by a faculty which words are carefully analysized

in which its concept of Statutory Interpretation,

may sufficient to write a book or two.

And all I wanted was, and is, a clarification.

For all who wish to further any intellectual conversation,

perhaps we should stop spamming the crowd.

And here you have my email,

my website is www.JasonLiew.com .

Have a nice day,

and good luck for your tax law assignment.

Thank You.

Cheers,

Jason Liew.

Jason,

In regards to the email concerning the assignment question, I don't really

understand the problem that you seem to be referring to, and that it does

seem that you have taken the question personally.

It is true that Hong Kong was handed back to China and that technically

they are under the same country. However, I am also sure you are aware

that it is Hong Kong SAR (Special Administrative Region)and in that

respect have their own laws and regulations in which China have no

involvement.

Despite this, the context of the question has no implication on the way in

which it should be answered, it is purely hypothetical and shouldn't

affect your answer. If you had any personal issues with the question it

should have been personally brought up with the responsible party when the

question was released and not 2 days before it is due.

The fact that you say "... I would like to see an immediate amendment on

this question, if not an extension of assignment, and a formal explanation

from Faculty of Law, Melbourne University." is disrespectful and arrogant

as you do not represent the student body.

Kindest regards,

Kris

I would just like to respond to your tasteless emails since you have

chosen to involve the entire taxation law student body in your "dispute".

I am sure that Sunita did not intend to insult you, the most respectful

way to deal with any issue regarding a lecturer would be to speak to her

directly, instead of plastering the issue on the internet in an accusatory

manner. You seem to be blabbing on about things not really related to the

assessement at all. I think you just like the sound of your own voice. So

in future, please leave me out of your thread of emails!

Kindly,

Anchana
